Make Your Car Safer From Theft Saturday In Levittown

The Bucks County district attorney's office will be providing free VIN etchings in Tullytown at the event.

TULLYTOWN, PA — If you want to help theft-proof your car, truck or SUV, you'll have a chace this weekend in Levittown.

The Bucks County District Attorney's office VIN etching squad will be in Tullytown at the Levittown Town Center on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The center is at 180 Levittown Pkwy.

For free, the squad will etch your unique vehicle-identification number on your vehicle's glass surfaces, including windshields and moon roofs. That, authorities say, is a deterrent for car thieves because it makes it easier for police to figure out if a vehicle is stolen.

Some insurance companies even provide a discount for VIN-etched vehicles, the district attorney's office said.

"The best way to prevent crime is to discourage criminals from committing them in the first place," said District Attorney Matthew Weintraub. "VIN etching is a proven auto theft deterrent, which is why we are proud to provide this proven, free service to our citizens in Lower Bucks County this Saturday."
