Man Charged In Bristol Basketball-Court Shooting

He and another shooter coordinated an attack on a man in the park's parking lot, prosecutors say.

BRISTOL TOWNSHIP, PA — A Philadelphia man faces attempted murder charges for his role in a March shooting at a Bristol Township basketball court.

Taariq Alfons Norris, 24, was arrested Thursday morning after a months-long investigation into what authorities call a coordinated attack in which a man was shot several times by Norris and another shooter.

Police say they are still searching for the second shooter.

According to the Bucks County District Attorney's office, security cameras captured Norris and another man get out of a car at about 7 p.m., about two blocks from the scene of the shooting. They walked toward the park, on Marie Lowe Drive, splitting up before they got there.

Norris and the other man then walked up to the victim in a parking lot from opposite directions with their guns drawn and began shooting, prosecutors say. In surveillance video, authorities say, Norris appears to aim for the victim's head.

During the shooting, prosecutors say, the victim drew his own handgun and shot Norris. Both the victim and the unidentified shooter are shown running away on surveillance video. Norris was put into a car by bystanders and driven to a hospital.

The victim in the case underwent surgery, having been shot in the abdomen and buttocks. Norris also was treated for his wounds.

U.S. Marshals, Bristol Township Police and Bucks County detectives arrested Norris in Philadelphia on Thursday. He was arraigned on counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit attempted murder, aggravated assault and other offenses.

He was sent to Bucks County Jail in lieu of bail set at 10 percent of $1 million.
