Mountain Biker Suffers 'Significant' Injuries In Falls Twp. Crash

The Falls Township Police Department is investigating the crash on Austin Drive in Fairless Hills on Friday.

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA — A man on a mountain bike suffered "significant" injuries following a crash on Friday, police said.

The Falls Township Police Department is investigating the crash that occurred at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Austin Drive in Fairless Hills.

A preliminary investigation has determined that a 30-year-old Fairless Hills man was operating a modified mountain bike with a gas-powered motor along Austin Drive, when he struck a Waste Management trash can causing him to lose control.

He then hit the ground and came to rest just under the front bumper of a parked vehicle, police said.

As a result of the collision, police said the man suffered "significant, but non-life threatening" injuries, including head trauma and fractures. He was transported to Saint Mary Medical Center where he is receiving treatment.
