"It wasn’t an easy decision for anybody," said supervisors Chairman Jeff Dence." We know a lot of people rely on the camp for daycare in the summer. We apologize, but it's out of our hands."

Anyone who has paid for the six-week summer camp, or bought a pool pass, will receive an immediate refund, officials said.

According to a social media post, Falls officials sought guidance from the county, as well as Pennsbury School District and other agencies before making the decision to cancel camp and keep the pool closed.

"Ultimately, officials agreed that it would be difficult, if not impossible, to practice social distancing with 175 campers and during especially crowded days at Pinewood Pool," officials said.

Falls reopened its parks last month, but has kept amenities such as playgrounds, dog parks, skate parks, tennis courts and restrooms closed. Dence said the township hopes to reopen the amenities soon.

Falls also hopes to reopen its municipal building by early June, officials said. Initially, it would be open primarily by appointment.
