Boil Water Advisory For Royerford, Limerick And Upper Providence

Nearly 10,000 residents in the three municipalities are asked not to drink the water before boiling it.

ROYERSFORD, PA β€”Residents in Royersford Borough, and portions of Upper Providence, and Limerick townships are asked not to drink water without boiling it first, Pennsylvania American Water said Friday.

Parts of the Royersford water system in Montgomery County experienced an issue that resulted in a loss of chlorine feed for approximately 15 minutes.

The company experienced a failure of the chlorine feed system which resulted in a loss of residual entering the distribution system.

As a result, a water advisory is issued for 9,900 customers in the affected area. A map of the area is available here.

The company is collecting and analyzing water samples to confirm that water quality meets drinking water standards and will notify customers when it is complete.

In the meantime, the water is required to be boiled and then cooled before using.

Customers are required to use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.

According to Pennsylvania American Water, inadequately treated water may contain disease, including bacteria, viruses, and parasites, which can cause symptoms such as nausea, cramps, diarrhea, and associated headaches.
