Bridge Built In 1925 To Close For 6 Months In Upper Providence

A major, months-long construction project will get underway next week in Upper Providence.

UPPER PROVIDENCE, PA β€” Black Rock Road will be shut down for months as construction gets underway to replace the bridge over Crossmans Run in Upper Providence, officials announced.

Work will run from May 12 through Dec. 1, with Black Rock Road closed from Upper Indian Head Road to Ashenfelter Road.

The detour will take drivers to Egypt Road and Route 29, and local access will be maintained.

The single span, two-lane, 12-foot long bridge was built in 1925. It carries about 7,796 vehicles a day, PennDOT said.
