Cold Weather Arrives: Spring-Ford's Plan Is Here

Spring-Ford sets an emergency day make-up day in April.

SPRING-FORD, PA โ€”Spring-Ford Area School District has a plan for the inclement weather.

A virtual day will be used for an unplanned school closure and will eliminate the need for a make-up days at the end of the year, according to the district's website.

On a weather related Virtual Day, students will follow a modified schedule with virtual lessons via Zoom or Teams synchronously for a portion of each period.

The district has scheduled April 5 as an in-person snow day.

Decisions

The decision to close school is made by the superintendent with recommendations from the district director of transportation and director of planning.

The decision is made by 5:30 a.m. to provide time to post the decision and notify television and radio stations.

An early dismissal could occur if conditions worsen during the school day, but all possible attempts will be made to give adequate notice to parents first.

Parents are asked to use their best judgment when determining if it is safe for their children to go to school on bad weather days.
