First Sheetz In Philly Region Sets Opening Date

LIMERICK, PA — The hotly anticipated new Sheetz in Limerick will now open on Feb. 12, according to store officials, marking one of the first and most notable incursions of the western Pennsylvania-based convenience store into Wawa territory.

Locals have been awaiting the new store since the Limerick Township Board of Supervisors gave final approval to the building plan early last summer. About 50 new jobs are expected to be created.

Ground officially broke on the new project on Aug. 5, and the store has taken clearly visible shape to passerby in the months since. The traditionally-designed brick Sheetz building is already up and parts of the interior look filled out, while work is continuing on the gas station side. As of early January, construction fences still surround much of the property.

To intensity the Wawa rivalry even further, the new Sheetz is being built on the busy corner of Ridge Pike and Swamp Pike, which is just down the street from an existing super Wawa. It's also near the Limerick Diner.

It's not the only Sheetz incursion into Wawa territory, however, as a location has also been approved for Downingtown. That store won't be open until Sept. 2026, according to Sheetz.

The new location in Limerick is currently hiring.

Sheetz stretches as far east as the Outer Banks, but until now, they haven't gotten closer to the Philly area than Reading in Berks County and Easton in Northampton County.
