Full Siren Test To Be Held At Limerick Nuclear Plant Monday

The "full volume" test takes place twice a year to test emergency systems.

LIMERICK, PA β€” The Limerick Generating Station will hold its regular semi-annual test of its emergency warning sirens on Monday afternoon.

The test will occur at 2 p.m. and will last for three minutes. Officials reminded residents that there is no cause for alarm.

The "full volume" test will sound in a 10-mile radius surrounding the plant. Sirens are located throughout Montgomery, Chester, and Berks counties.

Should there be an actual emergency, the sirens are not meant to signal panic or evacuation, but rather a notice to pay attention to local announcements.

"In a real event, the sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station," organizers said.
