Holy Week at St. Paul's Remembers the Events Leading Up to Easter Sunday!

Holy Week at St. Paul’s in Oaks
Holy Week remembers the events that happened in the week leading up to Easter morning. Traditionally, we begin with Palm Sunday – the day where the Gospel’s tell us that Jesus entered Jerusalem with great triumph and acclaim. And goes through Easter Sunday – where we remember the women coming to the tomb and finding Jesus no longer there. But the week’s services are a roller coaster of emotion….
Maundy Thursday
On Maundy Thursday we remember the “Last Supper” and the commandment to love one another that Jesus left us. We end the service by “stripping the altar” removing everything while Psalm 22 is said or sang. This year Maundy Thursday is April 17th, 12:00 PM at the Church of the Epiphany, 87 Bethel Church Rd, Spring City and 7:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal in Oaks.

Good Friday
On Good Friday we remember and reflect on the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. Services will be held on Good Friday, April 18th, at 12:00 PM at St. Paul’s in Oaks and 6:30 PM at Church of the Epiphany.

The Great Vigil of Easter
On Saturday night, as the sun begins to go down, we begin The Great Vigil of Easter. We light the first light of Easter, enter the church in darkness – with only the light of Christ to guide us. We remember the story of redemption. And end by celebrating the resurrection of Jesus. We will celebrate on April 19th, beginning at 7:30 PM at Old Union Church, Pawlings and Audubon Rds., Audubon, across from the Mill Grove Bird Sanctuary.
Easter Sunday
And then on Easter Sunday morning, we continue the celebration of the resurrection on April 20th at 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM.
We hope to see you at these meaningful events as we journey through Holy Week. For more details, please visit our website stpaulsoaks.org or contact the church office Barbara@stpapulsoaks.org .
