LIMERICK, PA —Jennifer Brown was murdered on Jan. 3 in her home by some she cared about who took advantage of her trust, a prosecutor told a Montgomery County jury Wednesday, according to reports.

Blair Watts, 33, of Limerick, is on trial before Judge William R. Carpenter on first-degree murder and related charges in the killing of Jennifer Brown, a Limerick mother who was reported missing on Jan. 4.

Assistant District Attorney Kelly S. Lloyd told the jury that Watts killed Brown in her home and dumped the body in a shallow grave in Royersford because he was having financial issues.

Watt's lawyer, Michael Coard of Philadelphia attorney asked the jury not to allow sympathy for Brown to influence the verdict.

Brown was scheduled to pick up her 8-year-old son from the bus stop the following afternoon on Jan. 4, but did not show up, police said. The same day, Watts reported to police that Brown of the 1400 block of Stratford Court, Limerick Township, was missing.

An investigation, however, led police to identify Watts as a suspect.

Brown's body was found by a passerby two weeks later on Jan. 18 buried behind a warehouse in the 200 block of North Fifth Avenue in Royersford.

Police said Watts and Brown were planning to open a restaurant, “Birdies Kitchen,” in Spring City.

Bank records show that Watts transferred $17,000 from Brown’s account to his own and phone records put him at the scene of the slaying, according to police.

Brown worked as a senior representative of Inside Sales at Wesco Distribution in Norristown.

Watts was returned to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, near Eagleville. Testimony resumes Thursday.
