ROYERSFORD, PA β€” Officials will cut the ribbon Wednesday on a new Giving Spot donation container at the Spring Valley YMCA in Royersford.

The freight storage bin repurposed by the nonprofit Cradles to Crayons will collect a variety of items and allows the group to help an additional 255 children in low-income or homeless situations per month.

Organizers say that lightly used clothes, shoes, hats, coats, gloves, and new socks and underwear can be dropped at the box.

"In Greater Philadelphia, as many as 3 in 5 kids and their families are at risk of experiencing clothing insecurity, the lack of access to affordable, adequate and appropriate clothing," Michal Smith, the executive director of Cradles to Crayons Philadelphia, said in a statement. "The partnership between the YMCA and Cradles to Crayons is invaluable, as it places a Giving Spot in highly trafficked areas where families visit each day."

Residents can easily access the area with their vehicles 24 hours a day.
