Royersford Firefighter, Paramedic Dies Of COVID-19 Complications
Firefighter and paramedic Michael Lessar died Monday due to complications from COVID-19. He joined the department in 2018.

ROYERSFORD, PA โ A local firefighter and paramedic has passed away due to complications from COVID-19.
The Royersford Fire Department and Friendship Ambulance jointly announced Tuesday that Michael Lessar died on Monday, his death attributed to the coronavirus.
According to the announcement, Lessar joined the Royersford Fire Department in 2018 as a part-time emergency medical services provider before transitioning to a full-time position within the department.

At the time, Lessar became one of the first full-time members in the RFD's history.
"His contributions to RFD and the Spring-Ford community include being a clinically sound practitioner and being the catalyst for many improvements within the EMS Division to increase efficiency during patient care," the RFD stated in its announcement. "Please keep Paramedic-Firefighter Lessar's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers."

The department says that before Lessar joined the RFD, he served in the United States Army and then went on to work with the Reading Fire Department in Berks County.
Funeral arrangements had not yet been made at the time of his publication.
