Univest Bank Helping Fuloughed Government Employees

Univest Bank and Trust Co. is offering financial advice to government employees who have been furloughed due to the government shutdown and could be concerned about making mortgage and loan payments.

According to the bank, with local offices in Royersford, Skippack, Schwenksville and Trappe, the shutdown has affected thousands of area employees who are unsure of when they will receive their next paycheck and when their forced furlough will end.

“There are provisions stipulated within the federal government’s shutdown that enable Univest and other financial institutions to help government employees through this difficult time,” said Annette D. Szygiel, chief experience officer and executive vice president of Univest Corporation. “Univest differentiates itself on stellar customer experiences, which is why our collections department has been instructed to ensure these customers’ loans are put on an appropriate length of forbearance until the customers start receiving their paychecks again. No late fees will be assessed and these customers will not be reported to the credit bureaus as being delinquent.”
