EAGLEVILLE, PA β€” State and local officials came out Thursday to help celebrate the opening of a new patient facility and residential building at Eagleville Hospital, the culmination of a $50 million construction project to update the facility that caters toward individuals with substance use disorder and other issues.

The hospital, which caters to individuals all throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania, recently undertook a project to update and modernize the healthcare and residential components of the campus, which dates back to the early 1900s, and in the early days specialized in the treatment of patients with tuberculosis.

Those in attendance at the ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday included State Rep. Joe Webster, D-150, Eagleville Hospital CEO Gene Ott, and Eagleville Foundation Board Chair Eileen Joseph.

"Substance use disorders is great challenges for the individual, as well as their friends, families and co-workers," Joseph said in a statement. "Our goal, is to move forward and assist people in a true, full recovery."

Webster, in his own statement, praised the project and also took time to thank colleague Nancy Guenst, a fellow Democrat representing the 152nd Legislative District in Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties, for her involvement and support for the project from a legislative front.

Joseph, the board chair, said that "there's a great energy that flows through this hospital from the board to the staff and back again."

Calling it "more than just buildings," Joseph said Eagleville Hospital is made possible through the hard work and efforts of those who support its mission.

"It's an incredible moment that I have experienced," she stated.
