The Peter Wentz Farmstead dates back to the mid-1700s.

Today, the site is operated and maintained by Montgomery County Parks, Trails, and Historic Sites.

According to Montgomery County, the site briefly served as a temporary headquarters for General George Washington and his staff in the autumn of 1777, during the height of the American Revolution.

Following the Revolutionary War, the Wentz family sold the property to Devault Beiber, who then sold it in 1794 to Schwenkfelder Reverend Melchior Schultz and his family.

The Schultz family continued to occupy the property for generations until Montgomery County purchased it in 1969.

Today, the public is welcome to take tours of the property and enjoy various programming that is offered throughout the year.

The property is located just east of the intersection of Routes 73 (Skippack Pike) and Route 363 (Valley Forge Road.)

Those interested in attending Sheep Shearing Day are asked to make a kind donation of $2 if possible.
