Back-to-School Shopping: When Do You Start?

About 25 percent of parents start back-to-school shopping two months before the kids return to the classroom, according to a recent poll.

If you haven’t starting thinking about back-to-school shopping yet, you might want to begin pulling together a list of what you need before you get left behind, according to a 2013 Back-to-School shopping survey conducted by the National Retail Federation.

The survey says that about a quarter of families with kids in grades K-12 will begin shopping for school supplies, clothing and other items about two months before school starts.

With Neshaminy students returning to the classroom on Sept. 9, there’s only about a month left to hit the stores. And, when you do, they are likely to be pretty crowded, since the NRF survey says 49 percent of all elementary school parents begin their back-to-school shopping three weeks to one month before school begins.
