Gray Skies and Thunderstorms Through Midweek, Says NWS

The sun will only make brief appearances in Lower Southampton until Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Don't pack that umbrella away just yet! 

The National Weather Service says the gray skies aren't going to clear up until Wednesday.

Here's a look at the detailed forecast for this week in Lower Southampton, courtesy of the NWS:

  • Monday Afternoon: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. Light west wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
  • Monday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. West wind around 8 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. North wind around 11 mph.
  • Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 58.
  • Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 78.
