Objects Thrown at Cars on Brownsville Road

Several windshields have been broken in the past few weeks by rocks thrown at passing cars on Brownsville Road, Lower Southampton police report.

Three vehicles, including a school bus, traveling north on Brownsville Road had a rock thrown at their windshields in the span of three hours Monday afternoon, according to a report released by the Lower Southampton Police Department.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., a bus driver with the Neshaminy School District reported that a rock was thrown at her window near the intersection of Uphill St. The driver told officers that she saw a burgundy pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction.

A driver of a Ford Contour later told police that her windshield was struck at 3:25 p.m. while she travelled north on Brownsville, near Rosewood Ave. Another driver reported to police that an object damaged the windshield of her Ford Fusion at 5 p.m. the same day, near Manor Lane.

Lower Southampton police are stepping up patrols in the area in light of these incidents, plus a similar one from last week. At approximately 4:45 p.m. on March 11, the driver of a Subaru told police that her car's windshield was struck by an object while she travelled north on Brownsville between Woodlyn Dr. and Spring Hill Rd. 

During the investigation, Lower Southampton officers were informed of a similar inicident that occurred the same day in Middletown, where a rock was thrown at a Neshaminy school bus. A pickup truck was reported in the area traveling in the opposite direction.

Despite the similarities, the limited descriptions of the events makes it difficult to say if the same person is responsible for all the incidents, said Lower Southampton officer Lt. John Krimmel.
