Stray Ladder Causes 7-Car Turnpike Accident

Alerts went out at approximately 3:15 p.m. Wednesday of a multi-car accident on eastbound Pennsylvania Turnpike near the Philmont Ave. overpass. According to the report, all lanes had been blocked by the crash.

NBC-10 reports that a fallen ladder on the turnpike struck several cars and caused others to swerve and crash. Three people have been sent to the hospital, one to Abington Memorial and the other two to Frankford-Torresdale. 

As of 4:30 p.m., traffic is getting by the scene, but there is a three-mile backup.
