Suspected Theft Reported at John's Cafe

Lower Southampton police officers responded to a report of theft at John's Cafe on Browsnville Rd. Monday morning.

According to the incident report, owner Carlo Leone told the officers that approximately $4,600 had gone missing from the previous night's deposits. Leone told the officers that it did not appear to be a break-in and directed them to the safe. The drop safe is divided into two sections, the top where cash is placed, and then deposited into the locked bottom half.

The bottom half was opened to reveal several envelopes with money inside, plus a rubber-banded stack of cash, according to the report. Leone told the police that $4,650 in $100 bills was missing.
