2022 Eviction Rate In Delaware County Among PA's Highest: Study

A new study by PolicyLink and the Community Legal Services of Philadelphia shows Delaware County's 2022 eviction rate was among the highest.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — In 2022, Delaware County had one of Pennsylvania's highest eviction rates, according to a new study.

PolicyLink and the Community Legal Services of Philadelphia teamed up to produce their study, "Advancing Pennsylvania’s Housing ;Futures: Sealing Eviction Records for Housing Stability and Economic Prosperity."

The groups found which counties in the commonwealth had the highest eviction rates for 2022.

Delaware County had the fourth-highest rate, per the study.

According to the study's findings, Delco's eviction rate in 2022 was 11.5 percent.

Ahead of Delaware County were Dauphin (16.6 percent), York (16.4 percent), and Lehigh (13.8 percent) counties.

"The eviction filing rate before the pandemic was larger in less populated, suburban areas like York County, Lehigh County, Dauphin County, and Berks County, than in city centers such as Pittsburgh or Philadelphia," the study says.

Sullivan County had the lowest rate at 0.8 percent.

The study shows 107,230 eviction filings and more than ;114,000 people were evicted in 2022 across the state.
