Blood Drive, 4-H Fair Starts Friday in Marple Newtown

  • Fair Fun: Delaware County 4-H Summer Fair, from 1 to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 395 Bishop Hollow Road in Newtown Square
  • Donate: Newtown Township Blood Drive from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 9 at the township building. Go to redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code: "Newtowntownship" to register. 
  • Fun: Free Movie Rentals Fridays at Marple Library 
  • Sport: Heading to the green today? Check out Paxon Hollow Country Club's live webcam
  • Traffic: Check on your commute on the PennDOT traffic cameras before you leave the house. But the traffic will likely be terrible—it's traffic.
  • Weather: The forecast calls for temperatures to reach the mid-80s with scattered thunderstorms. Things are expected to cool down to the low-70s in the evening. 
  • History: Per the History Channel, on this day in 2012, a JetBlue flight attendant quit his job via the plane's escape slide and Gerald R. Ford was sworn in as president in 1974 following Richard Nixon's resignation.
