Broomall's A.C. Moore Participates in Making the 'World's Largest' Card Event for U.S. Troops

The local arts & crafts store were among the 135 A.C. Moore stores participating in the 'World's Largest' card-making event in honor of military officers overseas and Independence Day.

BROOMALL–In support of this Fourth of July, which marked America's 235th birthday, and the troops overseas, held the 'World's Largest' Card Making Event last Wednesday on June 29.

The arts & crafts chain store set a goal to create 10,000 cards on one day; the Broomall store anticipated to make 75 of those on Wednesday.

According to Mark Eicholz, A.C. Moore of Broomall store branch manager, the store made 25 in the first hour and expected to meet its goals.

The event was filled with patriotic activities, including coloring and writing personal messages for cards which will be sent to troops overseas and creating , making red, white and blue tie-dye t-shirts.

"It's kind of a cool day," said Eicholz. "It's the first time they've [A.C. Moore] done something like this. And it's been way busier than anticipated."

Joanne Trumbeths and her daughter Daria, regulars to the store, went to A.C. Moore on Wednesday to partake in the day's activities. Daria made a card, tie-dye t-shirt and marshmallow patriotic pops.

"It's a great, fun day," said Trumbeths. "It's nice, especially in the summer."

And it was extra special for 5-year-old Daria, who has a big heart for the soldiers overseas.

"She's all into the troops," said Trumbeths. "She always asks when the troops are coming home."
