Community Center Renovations On Schedule

Superintendent Dr. Merle Horowitz said the renovations at the Robert C. Gauntlett Community Center are right on schedule.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–With the parking lot nearly nonexistent and the walls and rooms of the building that held the knocked out, the is well underway in its renovations project.

But despite its current looks, Superintendent Dr. Merle Horowitz said she took a tour of the construction site recently and believed it was "one of the cleanest" construction sites she's been to.

"I have to say, in all my years, it is an amazingly clean construction site I have ever been to," said Horowitz.

Horowitz said the current construction site has been estimated for completion by next winter, depending on weather conditions which could set construction back.

"Once that's operable and habitable, the next phase will be to demolish this," said Horowitz referring to the school board meeting room.

The next phase will include demolishing parts of the community center towards the wing that currently holds the school board meeting room, gymnasium and cafeteria.

The following steps will then be constructing an entirely new parking lot at the facility and laying piping.

"Every day something more happens," said Horowitz with the renovatioins project.

The administrative offices have been relocated earlier this year to different ares of the building during the construction.
