He is recovering and has a long road ahead, organizer Amanda Leitzel said.
"Michael is one of the kindest, charismatic, and athletic teenagers we all have the privilege to know," Leitzel wrote. "To get our next chance to see him shine will be one of the greatest blessings."
As of Thursday morning, 340 donations to the campaign total more than $32,400.
"The family is overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers and support from family, friends and their community," Leitzel wrote." Many have reach out asking for ways to offer their help. As expected, parents Mike and Dana, have been dutifully by Michael's side, but that does come at a financial cost."

The striking driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police.
Marple Police and the Delaware County Crash Investigation Team are investigating the crash, but authorities said preliminary information shows charges do not appear to be warranted.
