COVID Cases, Hospitalizations Rising In Delaware County
The number of new cases and the average number of coronavirus hospitalizations in Delco have seen significant increases, state data shows.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The coronavirus is rearing its ugly head in Delaware County, as state data shows cases and hospitalizations are increasing significantly still.
According to the data, new confirmed cases rose from 438 on Wednesday last week to 550 this week. The incidence rate per 100,000 people also went up from 77.3 to 97.
Average daily coronavirus hospitalizations saw a near two-fold increase, going up from 8.1 to 15.5.

While hospitalizations jumped, the average number of coronavirus patients on ventilators remained the same at 0.
The county's positive testing rate saw an increase, going up from 8 percent to 9.7 percent.

Lastly, the percent of hospital emergency department visits due to coronavirus-like illnesses remained the same at 1.6 percent.
State data shows the county has seen 96,889 confirmed cases of the virus and coronavirus related deaths 1,874.
To date, 360,989 people in Delaware County are fully vaccinated, 81,361 are partially vaccinated, 159,892 have received one booster shot, and 14,632 have received a second booster shot, data shows.
