COVID Cases Up Slightly, Hospitalizations Down In Delaware County
Newly confirmed cases saw a minor increase over the past week, but hospitalizations saw a decent decrease, state data shows.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Despite a slight increase in confirmed new cases, Delaware County has seen a decreased in coronavirus hospitalizations.
According to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, three of the six key coronavirus metrics increased, two others decreased, and one remained static over the past week.
Metrics that increased were newly reported confirmed cases, incidence rate per 100,000 people, and the percent of hospital emergency department visits due to COVID-like illnesses.

Newly reported cases saw a very small increase from 382 to 384.
The county's incidents rate per 100,000 people increased very slightly from 67.4 to 67.8.

And the percent of hospital emergency department visits due to COVID-like illnesses went up from 1.1 percent to 1.2 percent.
But with these negligible increases comes good new on COVID-specific hospitalizations.
Data shows over the past week, the average daily COVID-specific hospitalizations dropped from 23.4 to 18. 3.
The county's PCR positive testing rate also went down, albeit slightly, from 11.5 percent to 10 percent.
Lastly, average daily COVID-19 patients on ventilators remained the same at 4.
Delaware County has seen 110,864 confirmed cases and 1,934 virus-related deaths, according to state data.
