COVID Hospitalizations, Ventilator Use Up As Cases Drop In Delco
While new cases, the incidence rate, and positive testing rate dropped in Delaware County, COVID hospitalizations and ventilator went up.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The coronavirus is still sending people to hospitals in Delaware County, but is getting fewer people ill, according to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
State data shows hospitalizations and ventilator use among coronavirus patients have increased over the past week in the county.
Average daily COVID specific hospitalizations went up from 33 to 35.4.

Additionally, average daily COVID-19 patients on ventilators increased from 4 to 4.6.
Despite these increases, newly confirmed reported cases dropped from 608 to 510.

With that decrease came a decrease in the incidence rate per 100,00 people, which went down from 107.3 to 90.
Delaware County's PCR testing positive rate dropped slightly from 12 percent to 11.8 percent.
Lastly, the percent of hospital emergency department visits due to COVID-19 like illnesses stayed the same at 0.9 percent.
To date, 109,545 cases have been confirmed in Delaware County, and 1,918 people have died from the virus, state data shows.
