COVID Metrics Increase Slightly In Delco Over Past Week

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — For another week, Delaware County saw an increase in its coronavirus metrics, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

Five of the six key metrics rose from Wednesday, April 20 to Wednesday, April 27.

The only metric that did not increase was the number of average daily coronavirus patients on ventilators, which remained a 0.

New confirmed cases went up from 388 to 433, and the incidence rate per 100,000 people increased from 68.5 to 76.4.

Delaware County's positivity rate last week was 7.3 percent, and this week's rate was 8 percent.

Average daily coronavirus specific hospitalizations saw a slight increase, going up from 7.9 to 8.1.

Lastly, the percent of hospital emergency department visits for coronavirus-like illness rose from 0.9 percent to 1.6 percent.

State data shows 96,505 confirmed cases and 1,873 coronavirus deaths in Delaware County to date.

In the county, 360,145 people have been fully vaccinated,81,595 have been partially vaccinated, 159,191 have gotten a booster, and 12,672 have received a second booster, according to the state.
