Drunken Driver Nearly Strikes Vehicles, Police Say
The man received a .222 blood alcohol content (BAC) reading, police say.

Police responded to report of reckless driver at about 9:46 p.m. on May 8 at West Chester Pike and Newtown Street Road.

Witnesses reported that a black Ford Explorer was swerving all over the road and nearly struck several other vehicles, according to the report.
Police found the vehicle stopped at a red light and when it turned green, the vehicle began to proceed and police immediately observed it swerve into the left lane, nearly striking another vehicle, according to the report.

Police stopped the Explorer and immediately noticed the driver, a 47-year-old Upper Darby man, had glassy, bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcoholic beverage, according to the report.
Police asked the man how much he had to drink and he said he had three drinks and finished his last drink about an hour prior, according to the report.
Police had the man exit the car and when he did, he dropped his cell phone, bent to pick it up slowly and dropped it again and appeared to have difficulty keeping balance, according to the report.
The man submitted to a preliminary breath test, which resulted in a .222 percent blood alcohol content (BAC) reading, according to the report.
It was later determined that the man also did not possess a driver’s license, according to the report.
The man was arrested and charged in connection with driving under the influence, careless driving and drivers required to be licensed, according to the report.
