Flood Warning Issued For Delaware County

The National Weather Service said Brandywine Creek is expected to rise over the 8-and-a-half-foot flood stage Tuesday afternoon.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — A flood warning has been issued for Delaware County as weather official expect the Brandywine creek to flood this afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued the flood warning Tuesday morning and it is effective through Tuesday night.

As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the creek was at 8 and a half feet.

The creek is expected to rise above flood stage Tuesday afternoon, cresting at 9.2 feet.

According to the NWS, this crest compares to a previous crest of 9.2 feet on April 2, 1998.

The water is then expected to recede below flood stage in the afternoon.

Drivers are urged to remember the "turn around, don't drown" adage when encountering flooded roads.

Drivers should not try to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings.

Additionally, pedestrians should never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot.
