Former Marple Police Chief Frank Dunn Dies At 77
Francis J. "Frank" Dunn faithfully served Marple Township in several capacities from 1967 to 2016.
MARPLE TOWNSHIP, PA — Former Marple Township Police Chief Francis J. "Frank" Dunn has died at the age of 77.
Dunn died on Thursday, Oct. 28, according to Marple Police.
After joining the department in 1967, Dunn ascended to lieutenant in 1976.

He then was promoted to chief in 1997, a position he held until 2004, according to the police department.
After his retirement, Dunn served on the township’s Emergency Management Committee and went to work for the township's Code Enforcement Department. In 2016, Frank finally retired after nearly 50 years of service to the residents of Marple.

"Frank will be remembered as a dedicated servant to the residents of Marple Township," police said in the announcement. "He was a 'Cop's Cop' who cared deeply about all his fellow officers."
According to his obituary, Dunn graduated from Marple Newtown High School in 1962 then served as an air crewman in the Navy.
A visitation is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square.
A private Interment at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield will follow.
