2 Killed In Separate Motorcycle Crashes Over Weekend In Delco: State Police
Pennsylvania State Police said Athanasios Pilios and Brad Rhoades died in separate motorcycle crashes in Delaware County over the weekend.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA ā Two motorcycle drivers died in separate crashes over the weekend, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Delaware County.
Killed were Brad Rhoades, 52, of Coatesvilla, and Athanasios Pilios.
The crash that killed Rhoades happened at about 1:44 p.m. Saturday on northbound Route 1 in the area of the Painters Crossing Condominiums in Chadds Ford.

Troopers were called to that area for a report crash involving a motorcycle and a FedEx delivery van.
Brad Rhoades and his passenger, Amy Rhoades, 47, also of Coatesville, were being medically evaluated and treated by EMS personnel for extensive and traumatic injuries from the collision, police said.

Amy Rhoades was flown to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, but Brad Rhoades was pronounced deceased on scene by members of the Concordville Firehouse, state police said.
The van operator remained on scene, was transported to Pennsylvania State Police in Media for questioning, and was cooperative with the investigation.
State Police said the van's driver was trying to pull across Route 1's northbound lanes to ultimately head south.
The driver did not see the motorcycle coming and pulled out directly in front of it, authorities said.
The motorcycle hit the driverās side of the van and spun the van so that it came to rest facing south in the northbound lanes or Route 1.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
All lanes of Route 1 were closed for about three-and-a-half hours during the response.
The second fatal crash happened at about 3:48 p.m. Sunday at mile marker 11 on Interstate 95 south in Tinicum Township.
Troopers were called to that area for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a box truck.
At the scene, troopers found the motorcycle driver, later identified as Athanasios Pilios, unconscious in the center lane of the highway. He was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS.
Witnesses said Pilios was speeding on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he collided with the right rear corner of the box truck, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Media.
The box truck driver and witnesses cooperated with the investigation and were interviewed on scene. The highway was closed until about 6 a.m.
