Marple Newtown Athletes Continue to ROAR in Spring

The 's over 200 spring student athletes had an overall grade point average of 88.33 percent for the marking period. This was a reflection of a total team effort, from students, teachers, coaches and parents, said the school. Thanks to the collective efforts, the school has continued to “Raise the Bar” for their student athletes. The overall grade point average winners for the spring season was repeat winners girls track & field team with a grade point average of 91.52 percent.

The Marple Newtown High School Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Renaissance Program hosts a ROAR (Recognizing Our Academic Responsibility) Award luncheon in the winter and spring to celebrate their student athletes.

ROAR is part of the “Raising the Bar” program which is the mission statement for the Marple Newtown High School Athletics Department. Student athletes are being encouraged to raise the bar in terms of their academics and character. There are six pillars: respect, responsibility, citizenship, sportsmanship, integrity, and hard work have been identified as characteristics that they want the student athletes to model. The school is challenging them to strive to be the best person and student that they can be as they go forward and represent the .
