Newtown Township Police Department is proud to announce that its Accreditation Manager, Jennifer Ruggeri has earned the Law Enforcement Accreditation Manager Certification from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). Last month, Ruggeri became the first Law Enforcement Certified CALEA Accreditation Manager in Pennsylvania. She is one of only 63 professionals in the world to have earned this certification.

The purpose of CALEA is to improve the delivery of public safety services by maintaining a body of professional standards. Accreditation from CALEA is a multi-year process that provides a planning framework, encourages organizational growth and improvement, promotes both sound operational decisions and an open dialogue with the local community.

In 2017 Ruggeri began a dual accreditation process for both CALEA and Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC), on behalf of Newtown Township Police Department. Both accreditations were achieved within 18 months.
