Newtown's 'Battle Of The Badges' Blood Drive Is July 30

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — Police and firefighters in Newtown Township are engaging in another "Battle of the Badges" blood drive this month to see which emergency response group can rally more donors.

Newtown's 5th Annual Battle of the Badges will be held July 30 at Stratford Friends School, 2 Bishop Hollow Road in Newtown Square.

The Newtown Square Fire Company and the Newtown Township Police Department will be competing to see who can get more blood donations in their names.

Those who give blood by July 31 will get a Fandango Movie Reward from the American Red Cross via email.

"The need for blood is constant, and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community," the Newtown Square Fire Company said. "Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime."
