Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Delaware County: State Police

A 35-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle after Pennsylvania State Police said he stepped into oncoming traffic to cross the road.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in Delaware County, authorities said.

Pennsylvania State Police were called to 1055 W. Baltimore Pike in Middletown Township at about 8:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Troopers who arrived at the scene found a pedestrian being evaluated for a head injury.

The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Crozer Hospital with severe, traumatic injuries.

State Police said the man died at about 9:30 p.m. from his injuries.

An uninvolved witness told police the victim tried to cross the road, stepped into oncoming traffic, and was struck in the right lane of travel southbound on Route 1 by a driver in an Acura RDX.

The Acura's driver remained on scene, was cooperative with the investigation.
