New Agricultural Education Seminars at Garrett Williamson Begin Tuesday, November 9th at 7:00PM

Many of us have thought about raising a little flock of chickens, ducks, or quail. Besides producing incredible fresh eggs, chickens can help control garden pests, and even make charming pets.

Fortunately, by attending the new Agricultural Education Seminars at Garrett Williamson, you will gain the basics needed to raise a healthy flock in 2022.

Penn veterinarian Dr. Sherill Davison will kick off this amazing series – which is open to the public ($10 per class) – with a fascinating overview of Backyard Birds!

Her first two poultry presentations in 2021 will include:

  • November 9, 2021: Backyard birds – housing and common diseases
  • December 7, 2021: Raising broilers/heritage birds and common diseases

There is a lot to love about backyard birds, and the more you know, the better your odds of enjoying a successful first flock. For example, do you know how you can tell what color eggs a chicken will lay? By looking at their ear lobes! Brown ears, brown eggs. White ears, white eggs. And blue eggs come from…?
