Russell Donates Over $2,000 to Alex's Lemonade From 'Bat-o-Lanterns'
Russell Elementary School personally presented a check for $2,158.60 to Liz Scott, mother of Alex of Alex's Lemonade Foundation, to benefit childhood cancer and in honor of their classmate Charlotte McAuliffe.
BROOMALL–Last month, students or pumpkins painted in black and dressed as a bat, to fundraise and sell in honor of their classmate Charlotte McAuliffe and her team of in January.
The idea of the 'bat-o-lanterns' started with kindergarten teacher Tracy Paine, which spread throughout the walls of the school involving teachers, staff and the entire student body from start to finish.
According to Kim Polonsky, school guidance counselor, the school sold 800 'bat-o-lanterns' with $2,158.60 to help sponsor Charlotte's Lemonheads in the marathon to help find a cure for childhood cancer.
