PECO is offering free trees to customers in Delaware County through the Energy-Saving Trees Program.  Newtown Township is honored to host PECO this year and help them with their distribution event on Arbor Day (April 29, 2022).

The Arbor Day Foundation program helps utility providers distribute free trees to their customers and the knowledge of where best to plant them.

PECO customers can reserve their free trees at www.arborday.org/peco starting on March 21st.  The “Energy-Saving Trees” online tool shares the annual energy savings that will result from planting trees in the most strategic location near customers’ homes or businesses.  PECO would like as many Newtown Township residents as possible to participate to obtain trees for their properties.  Once registered at their website for your tree, instructions will be provided for the pickup time at Drexel Lodge Park - right here within Newtown Township.

Trees will be made available online until the supply is exhausted.  PECO would like Newtown Township residents to be ready to request their tree as soon as the www.arborday.org/peco link goes live on March 21st.  The link helps you know where best to plant your tree on your property.   If the tree will be planted as a “street tree”, the Newtown Township Shade Tree Commission stands ready to help guide Newtown Township residents in doing so, and will be present at the distribution event this year.
