Woman Admits To Thefts From Broomall Planet Fitness Lockers: Police

BROOMALL, PA — A Philadelphia woman admitted to stealing from lockers at the Broomall Planet Fitness in late January, in an incident that led police on a chase into Haverford Township.

According to Marple Township Police, Tierra Nesmith, 38, of Philadelphia, was taken into custody in Whitemarsh Township on a warrant for similar thefts at her home in Philadelphia.

While being interviewed by Whitemarsh detectives, Marple Police said Nesmith admitted to the thefts in Marple.

Marple Police filed charges related to the thefts and fleeing and eluding against Nesmith on Feb. 16.

At about 5:51 p.m. Jan, 23. Police said officers were surveilling Planet Fitness, 2920 Springfield Road in Broomall, due to a theft occurring there the night before.

Police saw a person run from the facility and get into a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee that left the parking lot, heading south on Springfield Road, police said.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle near South Sproul Road and West Chester Pike, but the Jeep turned right at West Chester Pike and sped off, according to authorities.

The Jeep drove into Haverford Township, with police reporting it violated many traffic laws.

Police said the Jeep turned left onto Lawrence Road, left onto Eagle Road, then right onto Haverford Road, all while driving around other vehicles and ignoring traffic laws.

Authorities suspended the chase at about 5:59 p.m., and the vehicle was last seen turning left onto Remington Road from Haverford Avenue.

Police said on Tuesday, Jan. 22, thefts from a locker at the same Planet Fitness were reported. A 37-year-old woman from Philadelphia has been identified as a person of interest in the theft.

Authorities said police were aware of the above Jeep due to its connections to other thefts from gym facilities in the region.

Court records show an extensive criminal history for Nesmith in the Philadelphia suburbs.

She is facing similar charges in Upper Providence, Plymouth, Hilltown, Whitemarsh, Lower Southampton, Abington, Montgomery, Doylestown, Lower Providence, and Upper Moreland townships, with some charges dating back to October 2024, according to court documents.

Nesmith is awaiting numerous hearings in the region, and is being held in Montgomery County, court records show.
