2nd Saturday, Alpaca Fun, Lemon Run Among Weekend Events [Get Out]

There are lots of things happening this weekend. It's a weekend full of community events. Have fun with some alpaca's this weekend at an Alpaca Farm. How often do you get to do that? 2nd Saturday Arts Stroll

• When: Saturday, Nov. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m.
• Where: Downtown Media
• Why Go: At the Franklin Mint Credit Union (100 W. State St.) The John Byrne Band a blend of Celtic and folk music will play from 7 to 8 p.m. The featured artist of the month, Jeanne Kirby Bruneau is known for her beautiful pastel landscapes, painted en plein air.
  

• When: Sunday, Nov. 10 at 7 a.m. 
• Where: 4231 North Concourse Drive, Memorial Hall in Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
• Why Go: The 5K, which raises funds and awareness for childhood cancer, is a fun way to get involved in ALSF’s quest to find better treatments and cures for all kids with cancer. Join more than 2,000 runners and walkers including several childhood cancer heroes and their families, to complete the 3.1 mile course. Read one woman's story here. 
• Cost: Register in advance to receive the reduced rates of $35 (5K runner–timed), $25 (5K walker–not timed) and $15 per child, ages 10 and under (100 meter Kids’ Dash). Registration is also available on the day of the event, but increased rates will apply.

Alpaca Farm Fun Day

• When: Saturday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m.
• Where: Lucky Penny Farm, 320 Wawa Road, Media
• Why Go: Bring the family out for a day of fun with alpacas, chickens, ducks, live music, kids activities, crafts, local artisans, food and more. Get your holiday shopping started and buy alpaca yarn and handmade products, farm fresh eggs and jam.
• Cost: Free

• When: Sunday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.
• Where: Congregation Beth El-Ner Tamid, 715 Paxon Hollow Rd in Broomall
• Why Go: Dr. Marcia Sachs Littell, an internationally recognized Holocaust scholar and educator, will speak, reflect, remember and recognize the importance of teaching tolerance throughout a world of diversity.
• Cost: Open to the public.

• When: Saturday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m.
  
• Where: AMC Marple 10, 400 South State Road in Springfield
• Why Go: This unique opportunity for families affected by autism and other disabilities offers much more than a movie. Watch Free Birds in the movie theater with the lights up, the sound turned down and audience members are invited to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing. Guests are welcome to bring their own gluten-free or special snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Check here for more upcoming screenings in the fall.

Girls Night Out Shopping Event

• When: Friday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m.
• Where: First Presbyterian Church of Springfield, 356 Summit Road, Springfield
• Why Go: Crafters will be selling jewelry, candles, bags and accessories, home good, children's toys, books and more. Proceeds benefit Rabbit Hill Nursery School.
• Cost: Free Admission

• When: Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.
• Where: The Old Mill, 381 Brinton Lake Road, Thornton
• Why Go: Sample the new flavors of Susquehanna Brewing Company’s craft beers and view and bid on paintings from local area artists with and without disabilities. The evening will include live music, light appetizer, raffles and the live auction. All proceeds benefit The Arc of Delaware County’s local programs.
