Child, Woman Critical After Delaware County House Fire

A young child and an adult woman were hospitalized in critical condition after a residential fire in Delaware County Wednesday night.

CHESTER, PA — A woman and a child are in critical condition after a house fire in Delaware County Wednesday night.

The fire broke out at about 8:46 p.m. Wednesday at a home on the 200 block of Wilson Street in Chester, firefighters said.

Crews were called to the area for a report of a residential fire with entrapment.

A child was found in the home's second floor within minutes of firefighters arriving at the scene, according to officials.

That child is believed to be two to three years old, Fox 29 reports.

An adult woman was also found in the home.

Both the child and woman are in critical condition, according to NBC10.

No emergency personnel were injured.

The American Red Cross has provided emergency assistance to a neighbor who was displaced by the fire. The organization said it will continue to reach out to all those impacted by the fire.

The fire was placed under control in about an hour, firefighters said.

There is no word on what caused the fire.
