Inaugural Delco 10 Miler Fundraiser Race Set For Sept 28

The first-ever Delco 10 Miler fundraiser race will take runners from Rose Tree Park in Media to Subaru Park in Chester on Sept. 28.

MEDIA, PA β€” Delaware County runners who are looking to support Delaware County Parks & Recreation, Delco Arts, and the HEADstrong Foundation may want to sign up for a new race set for this fall.

The inaugural Delco 10 Miler will be held on Sept. 28 and will raise funds for the above organizations.

Runners head from "park to pitch," starting in Media's Rose Tree Park at 8 a.m. and finishing at Subaru Park in Chester.

The course is all downhill, heading southeast on North Providence Road/Route 252, then south on Route 320 through Widener University's campus. After a few urban turns β€” East 19th, Walnut, and East 14th streets β€” the route heads northeast, then southwest through Melrose and Morton.

The final stretch follows U.S. Route 3 west, with turns through Penn, West Third, Flower, and Ward before finishing on Reaney Street just outside Subaru Park.

A post-race party will be held at Union Yards at the finish at Subaru Park.

All runners must be able to maintain a 15 minute per mile pace, as all course roads will reopen to traffic following this schedule. Runners who fall behind this pace may be asked to move to the sidewalk.

Participants will park at Subaru Park and will be bussed to the starting point in Media. Plan to arrive at Subaru Park at 6:30 a.m. The last shuttle will leave for Rose Tree Park at 7:30 a.m.

The basic registration tier costs $65, but $85 will secure a spot in the race, as well as a T-shirt and medal.
