Tax Hike Could Hit Delco Property Owners
The Delaware County Council's 2026 budget features a nearly 19 percent increase in real estate taxes from 2025.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Property owners in Delaware County could be paying more real estate taxes in 2026, should the county's proposed 2026 budget be approved as it stands.
A 19 percent increase in property taxes in included in the proposed 2026 budget.
The total budget for next year stands at $957.8 million, up 6.6 percent from 2025's $898.3 million.

The budget features $340.4 million in revenues, and $268.9 million is from property taxes.
That is an 18.7 percent increase in real estate taxes from 2025.

With the proposed increase, a home with an assessed value of $255,000 would have $188 tacked on to their 2026 tax bill.
Should the budget be approved, it would mark the third consecutive year of county-levied real estate tax increases.
The county council will host public hearings at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, with the final vote scheduled for Wednesday.
