Raccoon Takes The Pitch At Philadelphia Union Game Wednesday

CHESTER, PA — The Philadelphia Union game Wednesday night had an unexpected interruption: a raccoon made its way onto the pitch.

The Union took on New York Football Club Wednesday at Subaru Park in Chester.

And in the first half, the fuzzy critter ended up on the field.

The raccoon evaded capture for more than two-and-a-half minutes before staff apprehended the rodent.

According to Major League Soccer, the incident broke the league record for game stoppage due to a live animal on the field.

The Union fell to New York 2-1.
