Rt. 252 Road Work Improvements, Timeline
The widening project of Route 252 (Providence Road) is expected to begin this fall, PennDOT says.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is moving forward with its project to widen Route 252 (Providence Road) in Upper Providence Township, between Palmers Mill Road and Kirk Lane.
Rt. 252 (Providence Road) will not be closed at any point during construction, according to PennDOT Safety Press Officer Brad Rudolph.
The bulk of the project is expected to improve traffic flow through the interchange with U.S. Route 1, by widening Rt. 252 from four to five lanes through the Rose Tree Road intersection, and making traffic signal upgrades.
"The project had more delays due to the U.S. Open (held in Haverford) and summer events at the Rose Tree Park, but we have been driving it as hard as we can," Upper Providence Township President Joseph Solomon told the Delaware County Daily Times.
There will be overnight lane closures on the Rt. 252 bridge over Route 1, but at least one lane in each direction will be maintained at all times and access to both Springton Lake Middle School and Church of the Nazarene will be maintained, according to Rudolph.

- The Rt. 252 bridge over Rt. 1 will be rehabilitated.
- A protective fence on the Rt. 252 bridge will be installed.
- The southbound Rt. 1 exit ramp will be widened.
- Traffic signal upgrades at various intersections
