Scammers Posing As Delco Sheriff's Employees: Authorities

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — Authorities in Delaware County are warning residents of scammers posing as members of the Delaware County Sheriff's Office.

According to authorities, the scammers purport to be employees of the office and demand payment from their targets.

The scammers request large sums of money be paid via bitcoin under the threat of arrest for criminal charges related to missing jury duty and contempt of court, according to authorities.

These scammers are manipulating caller ID information so it appears as though the actual Delaware County Sheriff's Office is calling the targets.

Authorities said the callers use urgent and threatening language to get their targets to cooperate.
