We're having a heat wave and many people are looking for ways to cool off.

The Philadelphia area is under a excessive heat warning all week with heat indexes expected to top 100 degrees.

Staying cool is not just about comfort, for some people it’s about safety. Weather like this puts everyone, but especially the very young and older adults, at risk.

Here’s Media Patch’s list of the top places to keep cool:

1. Libraries: Media and Middletown libraries both air conditioning. Pick up a new book, catch up on your magazine reading or surf the Internet while staying cool.

2. Go See a Movie: Movie theaters are nicely air conditioned and you can spend a few hours enjoying a movie while keeping cool. The Regal Cinema in Edgmont or AMC Granite Run 8 are your closest options.

3. The Mall: Have you been to the Granite Run Mall lately? It’s nicely air conditioned. Shop and check out some of the new stores and businesses now at the mall. Grab a bite at the mall's newest restaurant too, Dominic’s Hand Carved Roast Beef & Roast Pork.

4. A Pool: Do you have a friend with a pool or maybe you belong to the Rocky Run YMCA or another swim club? Either way, the water is a great place to keep cool.

5. Pennsylvania Veterans Museum: Have you ever checked out this local museum hidden beside Trader Joe's in Media? Admission is free (along with the air conditioning) but visiting hours are noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays.
